Missing my device

Missing my device

After my phone fell onto a rock and came off second best, I’ve had to live without it. I used it for many things, but what I miss most is communication. A trip to the mall with my daughter turned frustrating when I left a shop and had no idea where she’d gone. We hadn’t planned a meeting spot, and I couldn’t message or call her. We’ve come to rely on our phones for instant communication – but do we have that same reliance on connection with God? Is prayer something we can’t live without? Would we even miss it if we stopped praying for a day, or a week? “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) is more than a nice idea, it’s an invitation to unbroken relationship. If we notice immediately when our phones are missing, how much more should we notice when our prayer life has gone quiet? Make prayer your most important device today, and every day. (Craig B).
