Conversations define us and enrich our relationships, but much has changed. In the past, we talked while walking, sitting, and spending time together. Now, conversations are becoming a thing of the past, replaced by social media, entertainment, and sports. As conversations with each other fade, so do our conversations about God and with God. Thousands of years ago, God gave us wisdom about the importance of meaningful conversation: “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates” (Deuteronomy 6:6-9). It’s time to listen and return to real conversations. Put down the devices. Go for a walk. Talk. Listen. Love.
