Stop Picking It Back Up

Stop Picking It Back Up

We all have a Sisyphus stone – something we push uphill every day, knowing it will roll back down. In Greek mythology, Sisyphus was condemned to push a huge stone up a hill for eternity, only for it to roll back down each time. For most of us, that stone is worry. We carry it everywhere, fully aware that worrying changes nothing, yet unable to let it go. Solomon warned, "Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and he who rolls a stone will have it roll back on him." (Proverbs 26:27) But the Bible offers a solution hidden inside a single word: "Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." (Proverbs 16:3) "Commit" is the Hebrew gâlal – meaning to roll. God is not asking you to tighten your grip and try harder. He is asking you to roll your worries, plans, and fears directly to him. And once he has taken your stone, the only way you can be carrying it again is if you went back and picked it up. So whenever the weight returns, follow the Psalmist's pattern: "Delight yourself also in the LORD… Commit your way to the LORD. Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." (Psalms 37:4-5) Delight. Commit. Trust. Roll the stone to God and leave it there. (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Pro26v27, bit.ly/pro16v3, bit.ly/Psa37v4-5
