Since the beginning of time humans have tried “selfation”, where we try to save ourselves. After the sin of Adam and Eve, the first thing they did was tie fig leaves around themselves in an attempt to cover their shame. But, “The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them” (Genesis 3:21). Humanity’s attempt was not sufficient. The covering cost a life, and God provided it. And so an endless pattern was set in place, humanity always trying to save themselves, and God showing us it is only through him that we can truly find salvation. We try to cover our own sins, finding our own “selfation”. But as the wise writer of Proverbs said, “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). Yet still we seek to save ourselves, whether through our money, our armies, or our intellect. But, just like with the first humans, this will never succeed. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12). Salvation is through Jesus, now and for eternity. Rely on him. (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Gen3v21, https://bit.ly/Pro28v13, https://bit.ly/act4v11-12
