“Hey, look at me! I’m just amazing. I’m incredible.” While, thankfully, most of us do not strut around saying this, there are many who do this, if not in words, but in action. We call attention to ourselves with our fancy cars, houses, clothes, jewellery, etc. We may be quick to tell others about the good deeds we have done or remind them that we washed the dishes or mowed the lawn. In the book of Proverbs, after hearing Wisdom’s voice throughout the book, at the end of the book, we meet another woman – beautiful, virtuous, with a voice of works. She is the meeting of heaven and earth – divine wisdom in human form. She is the picture, as the book ends, of the bride of Christ. And of her, it says, “Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates” (Proverbs 31:31). It’s not what she says that speaks for her – it’s what she does, the fruit of her hands. And so, as we reflect on our lives and step forward in our journey, we need to consider, “Who will people see in me? Where will my praise come from? Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Pro31v31
