Change. It's part of life. Yet while it's necessary, it can leave us feeling unsettled – especially when everything seems to be changing at once. Around us swirls a vortex of political, climate, economic, and personal change, and no two days feel the same as we struggle to find certainty. Israel must have felt exactly like this – freed from slavery, wandering through wilderness with no permanent home, no idea how long they'd stay in one place, no certainty of where they were headed. Yet one thing remained stable: God's tabernacle, around which they camped. "The Israelites are to camp around the tent of meeting some distance from it, each of them under their standard and holding the banners of their family." (Numbers 2:2). God was always at the center, no matter what changed – their anchor, their foundation. The good news is we have the same anchoring foundation. We read of Jesus: "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us." (John 1:14). The word "dwelling" literally means "tabernacle" – Jesus is our tabernacle as we journey through life. And the story doesn't end there. John sees a future vision: "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.'" (Revelation 21:3). However your life feels, let God be your center. No matter what else changes, He never does.
