Love is strange. If your life is just doing the things you love, you will find you don't love your life. Our world is full of people living their "best life," indulging every desire, only to be depressed, angry, and unhappy. Then there are those who sacrifice their time, money, and energy for others – and they are full of joy and peace. We recently visited a young man committed to helping youth in his poor community. After work, using his own money, he started a rugby club where he trains them and sets up competitions. Watching them train with no boots, no sports kit, but with smiles and joy was its own reward. These children felt loved and had purpose. What this young man was doing is showing real love – not the love the world defines as "doing what I want," but God's love. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). It made me ask: "How do I love? Like God, with kindness, patience, hope, and perseverance, or like self, with pride, self-seeking, and anger?". (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/1Co13v4-8
