Crashing eagles

I recently watched a movie about Elvis, the “King of Rock and Roll”. His ability to sing everything from ballads to gospel to rock and roll was amazing. Yet sadly, he soon fell victim to his fame and the desires of those around him to make money. Drugs, excess, and an unhealthy lifestyle resulted in him dying at age 42. His story is not unique. Countless music and film stars have died early, often as a result of drugs or suicide. Thousands of years ago, God gave a warning to the proud nation of Edom as they lived in luxury and excess. “Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,” declares the LORD.” (Obadiah 1:4). The allure of fame, of making our home among the stars, has been around for millennia. Yet God warns us of the danger of this life. It’s a glory, a pride too much for humans to bear – and almost without fail, we come crashing down. If you want to reach for the stars, take Jesus’ approach. It’s counter-intuitive. It’s counter-human logic. But it’s God-backed and certain. “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Matthew 23:12). Seek humility, and the King of All will exalt you. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/oba1-4, https://bit.ly/mat23v12
