Will the sun rise?

Will the sun rise?

Every night I am overcome with a great fear. Will the sun show up tomorrow? Yes, I know the sun has risen without fail every single day of my life, but I’m still anxious that maybe it won’t rise tomorrow. And if there are clouds, how do I know the sun is really still there? I’m sure you would agree this would be a crazy thing to be worried about. If there is something certain and proven millions of times, it’s the cycle of the day. Yet, if we replace “sun” with God, we may understand this irrational fear. Every night I am overcome with a great fear. Will God show up tomorrow? Yes, I know God has been there without fail every single day of my life, but I’m still anxious that maybe He won’t be there for me tomorrow. Every day of our lives, God is there caring for us. Yet how often do we worry about tomorrow, that He won’t care for us? If we are convinced the sun will rise, we can be even more certain God will be there for us. The sun in a few billion years could end, but as Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:35). Even the days when dark clouds of despair block the light, know for sure His Son is there. Jesus, the living Word will never end and never fail to shine on your life.
