This morning I went cycling and did some hill training. At the bottom of the hills, I thought, “Wow, I love hills”. They challenge us, stretch us, push us out of our comfort zones, and make us stronger. The straight or downhill roads have their place, but it’s the uphill battles that produce character. “We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character, and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us…” (Romans 5:3–5). But guess what? Uphills are easier when you select the lowest gear. Spiritually, that means humbling ourselves and relying not on our strength but on God. It’s faith in action, especially when life feels overwhelming. The answer is to gear down and trust God. Practically, this means slowing our pace and showing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Then we’ll find peace even on the uphill roads. “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial…” (James 1:12). (Pierre B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Rom5v3-5, https://bit.ly/Jam1v12
