B-lame

B-lame

Do you often find yourself living with blame? Blaming politicians for the state of the country. Blaming colleagues for issues at work. Blaming your parents for your life’s circumstances. Blaming your busy life for your lack of fitness. If you blame you will b-lame. Blame shifts responsibility and makes us powerless, lame. There’s a story where Jesus meets a man who had been lying lame for 38 years next to a pool that was thought to bring healing. Jesus asks him a strange question, “Do you want to get well?” (John 5:6). But rather than reply, “yes” he gives a list of excuses why he can’t be healed. Jesus simply replies, “Get up! Pick up your mat, and walk” (John 5:8). The only way to move from blame to healing is through H.I.M. – Humility – Identity – Movement. “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” (James 4:10). Be humble and accept your faults. Get your Identity from Jesus not those around you. Let go of your mat of excuses, and step forward in faith. You can choose to B-lame or be healed by H.I.M.
