The helmet

The helmet

We all know how important wearing a helmet is when you go cycling. So how was it, about a year ago, that I was with my wife at the doctor’s as she was getting her ear and face treated after a bike accident? Well, it was a short ride. No need for a helmet. It’s safe. Until she fell. It’s never safe. Helmets are always needed – often more so when we think we don’t need them. We read in Ephesians 6:17, “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Helmets save us, which is even more true in our spiritual walk. We need to protect our heads. We need to ensure it isn’t injured. And the only way we can do this is to cover it with God’s hope of salvation. We live in a world that, every day, is hammering our minds with its toxic message. It is a message all about self-gratification, self-first, self-pride. But, if we cover our minds with God’s good news, with his gospel of salvation, we learn about humility, love, and most of all, reliance on Him. And so today, and every day, even when it seems like there is no danger or risk, never go out without covering your mind with God’s helmet. Read. Pray. Go. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Eph6v17
