It’s crazy how you can easily walk around your home in the light, but everything changes if it’s dark. While you have a general idea of direction, unexpected items easily trip us. It’s even worse if you walk in the dark in an unfamiliar space. You quickly become disoriented and easily bump into things. The same is true in our walk through life. As much as the sun shines and the world is illuminated, our walk is one of darkness. We can’t see tomorrow. We can’t see beyond our immediate surroundings. We can’t see the thoughts of others. And so it is not surprising that we bump into things as we stumble along – sometimes hurting us and causing us to lose hope. If this is how your life feels, then Paul has a life altering prayer for you – “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.” (Ephesians 1:18). Pray this and let Jesus, the light of the world (John 8:12) flood your life with light, direction, and hope. Don’t walk in darkness. Turn life’s light on.
