My wife and I often run together. The other day, she shared how she times her breathing to mimic the pattern “by-his-grace, by-his-grace” and how it has helped her on many a long run. I found it interesting because it helped illustrate the link between faith and works. It is by his grace that she is blessed to be able to run, and in joyful reaction to the blessing, she goes out and makes the effort to run. The invite comes first, and in joyful response, we prepare for the banquet; we do not prepare first, hoping for an invite based on the quality of our preparation. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:8-10). Today, remember that all you do and receive is by his grace, by his grace. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Eph2v8-10 (Jeremy G)
