Would you be happy to meet Jesus right now? Seems like a silly question—of course we all want Jesus to return as soon as possible. But what if He did right now? Are you happy with who you are currently, or would you be nervous that you haven’t done enough yet to earn His presence? I must guiltily admit that sometimes I feel that if Jesus were to return right now, I haven’t served Him enough on this earth to be deserving of His glory. There was a verse I heard every Sunday in church growing up that makes me feel better about this thought. John 14:27 states, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” This is a constant reminder that I should not let my heart be troubled by a world designed by man to destroy spiritual peace. When Jesus left, He gave all those who believed in His resurrection the peace of mind knowing that He would one day return again to establish His Father’s Kingdom—a Kingdom He longs for us to be a part of, and one we should be excited to meet Him in.
