We all need mountains

Recently, as I sat next to a braai in the beautiful Drakensberg, I heard the lyrics of a song playing: “We all need the mountains to survive.” Surrounded by the grandeur of peaks like Hawk and Giant’s Castle, I felt the presence of something far greater than humanity. In the humdrum of daily life, endless challenges weigh us down—each problem rolling in like a never-ending conveyor belt of burdens. Our eyes are cast downward, and we feel as if we’re moving backward. But then, we are lifted by something bigger, something beyond ourselves. “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the herald, who proclaims peace, who brings news of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’” (Isaiah 52:7). In the mountains, we glimpse the throne of our God. We lift our eyes beyond the noise of the world and proclaim, “Our God reigns!” And in that moment, our perspective shifts—we look onwards and upwards. Indeed, we all need Him who reigns on the mountains to survive. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Isa52v7 (Matt B)
