Look Up. Where Are You?

Look Up. Where Are You?

A child who wanders off doesn't know they are lost until they look for their parent. So distracted by the world around them, they don't notice they've drifted away – until the panic, the fear, the loneliness sets in. Even a stranger's comfort won't do; only reunion with their parent brings peace. We are like this. So easily distracted by our work, our cares, our pursuits, our pleasures – and then one day we look up and realise we are no longer with our Father. We have wandered off, let go of His hand, and suddenly we feel the fear of loneliness. "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6). Yet even when we wander, we belong to One who will always seek us. He will "go after the lost sheep until he finds it. And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home." (Luke 15:4-6). But we have a responsibility too – to look up and see where we are. It is only then we can know whether we are still with Him. Take a moment, look around. Are you with Him? (Craig B).
