The Miracle Pull Tab

So many times we use them without thinking about how amazing they are – zippers. Invented over one hundred years ago, they remain widely used and largely unchanged. This incredible invention closes the gap between two pieces of fabric. One of the most important places for this is on a tent. Once you zip the flaps shut you are warm and protected inside. If the zip fails, the entire tent fails – and in cold conditions, that could be disastrous. A row of tiny teeth sewn to both sides is pulled tightly together by the pull tab. Without the pull tab, it's impossible to bring the two sides together. Sin caused a great divide between us and God. "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." (Isaiah 59:2). The cold winds of separation meant death (Romans 6:23). But God in His mercy sent Jesus, who did the impossible. "But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ." (Ephesians 2:13). Jesus is the miracle pull tab that bridges the divide and reconciles us back to God. It's only in Jesus that we are saved (Acts 4:12). What a miracle Jesus is. How would your life be without him?
