A hiking pole is really useful, especially on steep descents. It gives you stability, which is essential when the terrain is uneven or loose. However, worse than having no hiking stick is one that lets you down. Sometimes, in desperation, a hiker might grab a branch to steady their descent. But if, when they lean on it for support, it breaks, they can fall and be seriously injured. In life we all need something, or someone, to lean on, especially when we are going through a difficult time. But who, or what, we lean on makes all the difference. It could be our money or intellect, and these can let us down. Or it could be friends, or even experts, who can also fail us when we most need them. So who can we rely on? “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6). God offers to be our most stable and secure support on life’s paths. But what does he require from us? Trust him with all your heart. That’s leaning on him on the downhill, dangerous slope, believing he will never fail you. Do that and you will experience ultimate support. (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Pro3v5-6
