Clear the clutter

Clear the clutter

Recently, my daughter and son-in-law had to undertake the unenviable task of moving. Watching them pack made it clear not only how much clutter we quickly accumulate, but also how tricky it is to make sense of it all – what to keep, donate, or toss. It takes careful work. But eventually the house is empty and clean. Jesus tells a similar story: “When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before.” (Luke 11:24–26). It’s important to review the “clutter” in our lives – unhealthy habits, poor choices, too many possessions. But just as important as cleaning is filling our lives with the right things. The gospel is not just about removing sin; it’s about being filled with Christ. “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable” (Philippians 4:8). Today, consider what “clutter” you can remove, and what lovely and admirable things you can replace it with. (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Luk11v24-26
