I wonder what it would be like if you knew what people were thinking, or what was really in their heart. On one level this would certainly ensure no one could lie to you or scam you. But then it might also be quite distressing knowing what people truly think. Well, this was the power that Jesus had. "No one needed to tell him about human nature, for he knew what was in each person's heart." (John 2:25). And what was the impact of this knowledge? The previous verse tells us huge crowds followed Jesus because of his miracles, "But Jesus didn't trust them, because he knew all about people" (v24). He knew their motives. He knew what really drove them. It wasn't him but what he could give them. It wasn't God, it was His gifts. Why do you serve God? What is your motive? Is it the relationship, the family, the love he wants to share with you, or is it what you hope he will give you? Your answer is for yourself, because God already knows it – "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve." (Jeremiah 17:10). (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Joh2v25, bit.ly/Jer17v10
