Beyond words

Beyond words

How would you describe the colour blue to someone who cannot see? How would you describe music to someone who cannot hear? We might explain it scientifically as light frequencies or sound vibrations, but that misses the beauty and reality of colour and sound. This is often what it’s like trying to share Jesus with others. He is the light of the world (John 8:12). He is the living Word (John 1:14). He is divine colour and divine sound. He can’t be explained. He must be experienced. Maybe that’s why many don’t understand those who are enraptured by Jesus. Without being open to experiencing Him, we truly are “seeing through a glass darkly” (1 Corinthians 13:12). But if you invite Him in, you will truly see. You will truly hear. “May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God” (Ephesians 3:19).
