You are what you eat

The saying “You are what you eat” is very true. If we eat unhealthy foods, our body becomes unhealthy. Recently, it has been discovered that a critical determinant of our health is our microbiome. The gut microbiome aids in digestion and overall health. However, if beneficial bacteria that make up your microbiome die or become imbalanced, it can impact your overall health. It’s eating unhealthy foods that cause the beneficial bacteria to die. The same also applies to our mental “biome”. What we feed our minds determines our mental health. If we spend most of our time reading “unhealthy” content and discussing negative things, we will become unhealthy. Like our body, our mind needs a daily, constant, healthy food source. If we don’t eat a healthy mental diet our beneficial thoughts will die leading to negative mental health. However, Jesus provides the solution. “People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4). What food will you feed your mind and share today?
