Worrier or Warrior

In winter the vlei in front of our home gets quite wet. This means walking through it is difficult. It entails trying to hop across rocks risking landing in the water and getting wet shoes. Recently we bought gumboots and these were a game changer. Now we can walk without worry through everything. It makes me feel invincible as I stomp through foliage and water with my boots not feeling the scratches or the wet. Imagine if we could have something like this for our walk through the dangers and worries of life. Most of us try some form of protection to shield us from life's difficulties. We might have savings, or medical aid, or insurance. But while these offer some help they don't truly protect us. We often still end up worrying. God offers us clothing that not only protects but brings peace. "Put on the full armor of God…the belt of truth…the breastplate of righteousness…your feet fitted with the…gospel of peace…the shield of faith…the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:13-17).
