Some people have compared going on a game drive in a wildlife park to a lucky packet. You never know what you will get. There is endless waiting and searching, and it’s just luck as to what you find. Yet despite this, people will spend hours and hours searching in the hope of spotting something amazing. And after all this, maybe you will find something, or maybe you won’t. Yet still, we persist, driven on by the chance of finding something amazing in the bush. Jesus tells a story about this. “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.” (Matthew 13:44). God is offering us something infinitely greater and certain – his Kingdom. This a guaranteed find for those who seek it. And the reward isn’t temporary; it’s eternal.
