While walking along a seafront promenade, we noticed a dog walker taking various people’s dogs for their morning walk on the beach. What was interesting was how the dogs behaved. Even though they were off leash, they were well-behaved. Some ran a little ahead, but as soon as their name was called, they stopped until he caught up. Others stuck close to him or just behind him. However, one younger-looking dog was attached to him by a leash. While all the others were free to run around, this dog was restrained. We could see why as it pulled at the leash, attempting to race in all directions. It made me think of our relationship with Jesus. Some of us follow him closely. Others wander a little away but return as soon as he calls. But some of us need the leash. Our freedom is restricted. Not because he doesn’t love us but because he cares so much for us. ”My child, don’t reject the LORD’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the LORD corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.” (Proverbs 3:11-12). Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Pro3v11-12
