Teach me patience, now!

Teach me patience, now!

By nature I’m not very patient. Even repeating things tests me. So when God sends lessons on patience using repetition, they’re extra tough. Add His sense of humour—delivering the lesson through one of my greatest loves: food, and making me wait extra long. Clearly, I didn’t get it the first time, because He sent the same lesson the next day, twice, in completely different ways. The genius of God’s lessons is how personal and precise they are. And I know I’ll keep getting this one until it finally sticks, or I starve. But sometimes I wonder—can I really change? Don’t we all have those areas where we feel stuck? That’s where the miracle happens. God isn’t asking us to change ourselves. He’s asking us to let Jesus change us. To let the Spirit grow what we can’t. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience…” (Galatians 5:22–23). So today, stop trying harder. Let God be your patience. Your peace. Your joy. Maybe then, we won’t need the same lesson served up again and again. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/gal5v22-23 (Craig B)
