An estuary is where freshwater from a river meets saltwater from the ocean, creating a unique and vibrant life-filled ecosystem. The waters and shores of an estuary are calm and tranquil, providing a safe haven for countless creatures seeking protection. Similarly, we all need such a place of refuge in our lives. The good news is that God provides this safe haven for us. “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters” (Psalm 23:2). Just as the creatures in an estuary find safety, God will lead us to the calm, peaceful places we need, away from environments that may cause harm. All we have to do is stay in His current, and He will guide us to this place of safety. Sometimes, our lives feel like turbulent river rapids or stormy seas, where everything seems chaotic. But by keeping our relationship strong with God, we can trust that He will bring us to His estuary’s calm, peaceful waters.
