Rest Worth Fighting For

Rest Worth Fighting For

Israel stood with Joshua on the border of the Promised Land, ready to enter the place God had prepared – a land flowing with milk and honey, a place of rest after years of wandering. Yet before they could fully enjoy that rest, enemies needed to be conquered. Jericho fell miraculously through a march, a trumpet blast, and a shout. Victory came not through human strength, but through trust and obedience. Then came Ai. Israel assumed it would be easy, sent only a few men, and suffered a crushing defeat. What a picture this is of our own spiritual journey. Jesus, our greater Joshua, has come to lead us into God's promised rest, saving us completely through His love and grace. Yet enemies still remain within us – anger, gossip, envy, greed, unforgiveness, pride. So often we try to conquer these sins in our own strength, only to fail again and again. But victory is never found in self-effort. Christ Himself is the conqueror. As we daily trust Him, surrender to Him, and allow His Spirit to work within us, He transforms our hearts and leads us deeper into the peace and rest of God. "Therefore, since the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it." (Hebrews 4:1). (Nicky B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Heb4v1
