Your heart’s desires

Your heart’s desires

“May God give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” (Psalms 20:4). Wow. That’s a great bumper sticker verse. There’s lots I desire. New car. New house. New clothes. But these are not the “desires of your heart” that God is talking about. The Psalm begins with, “May the LORD answer you when you are in distress” (Psalms 20:1). The desires of our hearts in distress are vastly different and important compared to when life is going well. In distress, we discover our true desires – joy, peace, and love. It’s these desires God grants. But the key to this victory is found later in the Psalm. “Now this I know: The LORD gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.” (Psalms 20:6). Victory is through the anointed. This is the Hebrew word “messiah”. Our victory and our desires are found only through Jesus, the Messiah. Let our prayer be a cry for King Jesus’ victory over all things. For in this, we will have our desires fulfilled. In this, we will have our ultimate answer to our requests. “LORD, give victory to the king! Answer us when we call!” (Psalms 20:9). Open Bible – https://bit.ly/psa20v1-9
