“The LORD watches over you – the LORD is your shade at your right hand” (Psalms 121:5) – I remember sitting at the bottom of a wide beach under an umbrella on a hot summer’s day watching people walk across the sand. They would get about halfway down the beach and suddenly realise how hot the sand was. Then they would either try and run like crazy toward the water or throw their towel down and jump on it and then wonder what to do next. Despite being on the same beach, I felt no heat at all – simply because of the cool shade of my umbrella. That’s God’s offer. Life sometimes will feel like the sun is scorching you. You can try and run crazily through it, or try and find your own temporary solutions, or you can simply rest in the shade of God’s mighty hand. He is offering you His divine protection. It’s up to you if you want to choose the shelter of His shade.
