I am quick to complain when things don’t go right. Recently, while complaining and hoping to draw in a fellow complainer, I received an unexpected divine perspective. I had been sitting indoors working while a carpenter was outside building a patio cover. It started to rain, and I felt sorry for him. Offering him a lift home, I complained about the rain, saying we’d had enough of winter rains lingering into late spring. I expected him to agree, especially since he was the one working outside. Instead, he replied, “There’s been a big fire near where I live. The people have been praying for rain.” It hit me—how often are the things we complain about actually God’s solutions for others? This helped me understand an often-misunderstood verse: “We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” (Romans 8:28). God works things together for the good of all those who are called—not just for me as an individual. Sometimes, what seems bad for me is actually good for others. Let’s remember to be quick to give thanks and slow to complain. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Rom8vs28
