“Only three more sleeps before my birthday.” Can you remember the excitement as a child of your birthday? Counting down the days to your special day. Waiting in anticipation for the day to arrive. Mounting excitement in expectation of the gifts or the special party that was planned. Only three more sleeps. So close. In a similar way, we are asked to wait patiently for God our Saviour. To watch and hope for the Lord. To have absolute confidence in all he has promised to us His children. And just as every child knows the day will be filled with gifts, treats, and amazing celebrations, so too God wants to abundantly reward those who hope and wait for Him with the best gift of all – Himself. “I am your shield, your very great reward.” (Gen 15:1). Feel the excitement. The day is very near. “But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me” (Micah 7:7). Not many sleeps to go.
