There is a part of South Africa we love visiting in spring called the Namaqualand. The wildflowers that bloom after good winter rains are awe-inspiring. They remind me of Jesus’ words; “See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these“ (Matthew 6:28-29). God has important lessons to teach us from his creation. He assures us that if he clothes the fields with flowers, which are here today and gone tomorrow, how much more will he care for us, His precious children, with who he desires to share eternity? God tells us not to worry about what we will eat, or what we will drink, or what we will wear. He knows our every need. These are things the world obsesses and worries about to their peril. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33). So today, if you see a beautiful flower, rejoice, not only in its beauty but knowing this is God’s reminder to you that He cares for you in every detail of your life.
