Kneeling to pray

Kneeling to pray

When I was a child, I’d often see how other kids prayed in movies and books and emulate it—kneeling beside the bed at night, only getting into bed once the prayer was done. While prayer can take many forms, I recently returned to kneeling, and discovered something powerful in it. Kneeling brought focus. I knew I was there to speak to God, and that posture helped filter out distractions. I couldn’t scroll or multitask while on my knees—it was a moment set apart. Jesus himself knelt to pray: “He knelt down and prayed” (Luke 22:41). Kneeling is vulnerable. It can help us fully surrender to God’s will and presence. No, it’s not always practical, but when was the last time you knelt before God? Give it a try—this small act might draw you into deeper connection with your Creator.
