Cross of Hope

Cross of Hope

Across the valley from our home, on a hill, there is a huge cross that is lit up every Easter time. I don’t know who put it there, but I’m sure it must have taken a lot of effort, time, and money to erect. The significant costs did not deter them, but I’m sure their faith in Jesus and the hope of the cross must have been a reason. The cross shares the message of the love of God, who gave his only son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. One evening, I was feeling a bit down and overwhelmed, and when I looked out of my window, the first thing I saw was the lit cross on the hill. Immediately, I thanked whoever put it there, as it lifted my spirits and made me turn my worries to our Father. This made me think that you don’t always know what ripples you may cause in other people’s lives, but just persevere and do the right thing to help others. You never know if it will be for someone you may never meet, or maybe it will provide an inspiring moment to lift someone’s spirits and give them hope. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” (Matthew 5:14-16).
