Devotion. We can be devoted to many things. Sports. Social media. Career. Family. A pretty good indicator of our devotion is what we spend time on. However, the word devotion carries a deeper meaning. Its original meaning is the “act of consecrating by a vow”. This means that devotion is about worship and promise. And so the things we devote our lives are essentially the things we have sworn to worship. And so, if we have sworn to worship sports or career or anything else, then we must consider what these gods will give us for our devotion. Paul in Colossians 4:2 tells us what we should devote ourselves to. “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” So what he is saying is make a vow to worship God through prayer. And if we are not sure what this devotion should look like, we need only to look at our other devotions. Imagine what the Almighty God could do for us if the things we watched and all our thanks was done in prayer. Our view of the world, our response to others and our situations would change dramatically. Take a moment to reflect. What/who will I be watching and thanking today? 🌱 Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Col4v2
