You look crazy when you do it, but science says it’s really good for you, walking backwards. It strengthens different muscles, improves balance, boosts cardiovascular health, sharpens focus, and even burns more calories than walking forward. Yet when I tried it recently on a beach, I quickly realised the issue, you can’t see where you’re going. Unless you have the head of an owl you can only see alongside you. On a flat open beach you can walk with confidence for a while, but soon your foot snags on some unseen obstacle. As I stumbled and continued on, I realised this is a picture of life. We cannot see even a few seconds ahead. All we can do is judge from what is behind and around us. We try our best to avoid dangers, yet somewhere along the way we trip on what we cannot see. Life easily becomes stressful when we constantly wonder what’s coming next. But God gives us a gift, He walks ahead of us. He already knows what lies ahead and behind (Psalm 139:5). That’s why Paul reminds us, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Walk with faith in God’s guidance today. (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/psa139v5, https://bit.ly/2Co5v7
