When a baby is passed around and nothing works to calm them, something amazing happens the moment they’re back in their mother’s arms. Studies show that their heart rate slows, their muscles relax and often the tears stop. There is a peace that only her presence can bring. No toy, no trick, no substitute works the same. God describes Himself this way: “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you” (Isaiah 66:13). We spend so much of our lives reaching for things that promise relief—distraction, entertainment, control—but these offer only temporary ease. There is a deeper rest available. A soul-level settling that comes from being held by the One who made us. God’s comfort doesn’t rely on perfect conditions. It is available through joy and loss, stillness and chaos. Just as a baby is comforted not by where they are, but by who they’re with—so are we. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/isa66v13 (Sarah J)
