My wife is an expert problem solver. I watch her deftly handle issues that come up while running our Airbnb. Reflecting on life, I’ve realized it’s a series of problems to be solved. From minor ones, like “this food needs salt,” to major ones, like “we can’t pay our mortgage this month” or “a 7-year-old child has gone missing,” problems are inevitable. What matters is how we approach them: with frustration and panic or with peace and calm. Yet, even the strongest resolve can falter when problems become overwhelming. The good news is that God is the ultimate problem solver and the giver of peace. “Cast all your anxiety on God because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). We all face the greatest, seemingly unsolvable problem of all—death. Many try to solve it on their own or give up altogether. As Jesus said, “You refuse to come to me to have life” (John 5:40). But Jesus has already solved this problem. All we need to do is believe in Him and rest in His peace: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Whatever problem you face today, try the one ultimate solution—Jesus.
