The prayer of Asa

The prayer of Asa

Imagine the scene: your country is at peace when you hear that an army of over 1,000,000 soldiers and 300 chariots is coming to invade. What would your response be? This is exactly what happened to King Asa of Judah, as recorded in 2 Chronicles 14:9-12: “Once an Ethiopian named Zerah attacked Judah with an army of 1,000,000 men and 300 chariots. They advanced to the town of Mareshah, so Asa deployed his armies for battle in the valley north of Mareshah. Then Asa cried out to the LORD his God, ‘O LORD, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O LORD our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O LORD, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!’ So the LORD defeated the Ethiopians in the presence of Asa, and the army of Judah, and the enemy fled.” When overwhelming problems come our way, how do we respond? Do we rely on our own strength, or do we place our trust in God? Let our response be the prayer of Asa. The LORD not only defeats our enemies but causes them to flee, filling our lives with His peace and protection. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/2Ch14v9-12 (Nicky B)
