It’s a secret! Recently, we explored some of Cape Town’s secret locations – beaches, caves, and sunset spots. There is something exciting about secret places. Everyone enjoys a secret. It’s why marketers sell “the secret to weight loss” or “the secret to making money”. But maybe the most popular is “the secret to long life”. It’s a billion-dollar industry. Yet despite all the “secrets”, no one lives much beyond 90 years. “But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret,” Paul tells us. “We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. When the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed” (1 Corinthians 15:51-52). Now that’s a secret worth knowing. But how is it possible? “This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people…And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This assures you of sharing his glory” (Colossians 1:26-27). The secret to long (eternal) life is Jesus. What you do with the secret is up to you.
