One morning, we went for a cycle in the nature reserve close to our home. The most gorgeous orange-breasted sunbird flew just in front of me and perched on a sugar protea bush. Its colours glistened in the sunlight, and I marvelled at its beauty. It made me thankful for the beautiful surprises that await us at every turn when we surround ourselves with God’s nature. Our earthly possessions and treasures are filled with the predictable, but God’s creation is abundant with variety and beauty. Whether it’s watching birds, butterflies, animals, flowers, or the falling autumn leaves, there’s always something waiting to be seen and discovered. His incredible creation speaks to us of His majesty. All we need to do is open our eyes and delight in the awesome surprises waiting to be seen. ”For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20).
