We recently have been involved in building. Every time we visit the site, one of the builders is always friendly and smiling. No matter what the weather, the mood of the other builders on site, or the complexity or monotony of what he is doing. He is such a pleasure to be around. One day, I arrived, and he was alone, singing along to Christian music. He was living the call – “For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved” (2 Corinthians 2:15). It’s easy to show happiness when everything is going your way. But what about when things are going wrong? When the boss is angry, or you’re doing unpleasant tasks? Jesus said, ”A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” (Luke 6:45). God is good. When He is in the centre of our lives, good springs from our hearts, and his love motivates us and brings us joy. External circumstances don’t impact us. With every breath we take, with every word we speak, God is present. And our mouth speaks what our heart is full of.
