The company I work for helps build apps for startups. A few weeks ago we sent a big proposal to a client. I double-checked the costing with my senior developers because it seemed strangely low, but I was assured that all was in order, so off it went. A few days later, they picked up a fault; mistakes were made, and the proposal sent should have been R200k more; the client is not going to be happy. When strategising how to communicate this to the client, someone suggested, “Kayla, why don’t you just say you are the junior and made the mistake.” Internally, I was indignant and upset; how could I be expected to take the blame when I was not at fault? And then it hit me like a ton of bricks: “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus was blameless and sinless, the only man without sin, yet he bore our sins so that we may have life. He freely offered himself as a sacrifice even though he had no sin.
