The world is in huge trouble. We are seeing wars, floods, earthquakes, and a huge increase in other natural disasters. Civil society is falling apart. There is so much hatred, violence, fear, despair. So, where do you turn to find comfort in these times of trouble? Is it your job, sport, friends, social media, medication? In Proverbs, we read – “Like a broken tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful in a time of trouble.” (Proverbs 25:19). Putting our reliance on the world in these times of trouble will simply cause us more pain. Think about how it feels to bite on a broken tooth! The world is fickle, unfaithful, unreliable, and filled with broken promises. In contrast, God tells us, “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.”(Deuteronomy 7:9). When we choose to rely on God instead of the world and keep His commandments, He promises to be faithful to us – forever. This year, I encourage you to seek God above all else. He will never leave you or forsake you. He promises to stay faithful to you forever, filling your life with His wisdom and transcending peace and love.
