Are you someone who believes God requires you to put in all the personal effort to live a life pleasing to Him? You must read his written word daily so you know how to live a holy life and try hard to follow Jesus’ example. If this is how you are trying, in your effort, to live a God-pleasing life, you will most likely be feeling like a failure. “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.” (Romans 7:18-19). In our strength, we cannot live a God honouring life. That is why God sent Jesus to save us from our corrupt, sinful nature. The work God requires from you is to believe in Jesus and allow Him to do the rest. It is God who equips you with everything for doing His will through Jesus. “Now may the God of peace, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.
