The glow within

The glow within

Scientific studies tell us that living tissues, even the neurons within our brains, emit an ultraweak light called biophotons. Though invisible to our eyes, this gentle glow can remind us of a deeper spiritual truth. In Genesis 1:27 we read, “So God created mankind in his own image.” To be made in his image means our lives carry divine intention, value, and purpose. Scripture declares in 1 John 1:5 that “God is light.” Light reveals, guides, and overcomes darkness. In a symbolic way, the quiet light within our cells can remind us that our Creator is the source of all life and illumination. Psalm 139:14 proclaims that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Every detail of our being reflects thoughtful design and loving care. Yet being an image-bearer is not only about how we are formed, but how we live. We are called to reflect God’s goodness, mercy, love, kindness, and truth. Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others.” Though sin has distorted the image of God in humanity, his redeeming grace restores us. As 2 Corinthians 4:6 declares, God shines into our hearts through Christ, so that his glory may be revealed in us each day. May we shine every day with his light.
