What’s the doctor say?

I heard a story about a really sick person who went to visit his doctor. Arriving at his appointment, he went into great detail telling the doctor about his symptoms, where he felt pain, what was concerning him, even what he thought might be the issue. After spending 20 minutes pouring out all his woes, he thanked the doctor for his time and left. We might laugh at such stupidity, because who would make the effort to visit a doctor and not wait to hear what he thought the issue was and how to treat it? Yet is this not how we often come to our divine Physician? Jesus invites us to bring all our worries and pains to him, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,” and so we go to him. We share our issues, pour out our heart, and then what? Do we leave, or do we listen? Because the Physician continues, “and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Often Jesus would say, “Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you” (Luke 9:44). This is an invitation to hear his counsel, his healing words. When you take your issues to God, pour out your heart, then pause and listen. Wait for His still small voice. Wait for his healing peace. “My sheep listen to my voice” (John 10:27). Today, don’t stop your prayer at “Amen”, lean forward and listen. (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Mat11v28, bit.ly/Luk9v44, https://bit.ly/Joh10v27
