I was standing atop a cliff, and I could see my shadow on the shoreline below me. As the waves smashed against the rocks and over my shadow, I noticed it was unaffected. It didn’t matter what the waves did to my shadow; it didn’t feel them. Imagine if your body could be so resilient or your life to the waves of trouble that smash into it. This is a reminder of God’s promise that he would put his Spirit in us. A divine power that is unaffected by circumstances. While the waves of life’s issues might assail our lives, he promises to be an unassailable presence living within us. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze” (Isaiah 43:2).
